10/1 Week 6
Week 6
Today the group assessed how the hay was doing to mitigate the weeds in our plot, recognized the crop progression, and also noticed some leaf minor damage to the foliage on the summer squash. Although there was some damage, we were impressed how far along the summer squash is coming with nice big green leaves starting to really grow. We also noticed some unidentified damage to the corn foliage; suspecting the southern moth, or the corn ear worm for two possibilities of pests. We then weeded, and also coordinated as a team to delegate each weekly post for our plot. We noticed the most prominent weed was sedge, the hay seemed to not help as much as we thought to prevent sedge growth. The hybrid onion seems to be growing slower, but we as a group did not realize we needed multiple seeds in each trey hole when starting them in the greenhouse. We also noticed a hole that was dug from possibly field mice, or moles.
